Scale Blog (“we,” “us,” or “our”) participates in affiliate marketing programs. This page explains what that means, which programs we participate in, and how our affiliate relationships affect — and importantly, do not affect — the content we publish.
FTC Disclosure
In accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s guidelines on endorsements and testimonials (16 CFR Part 255), Scale Blog discloses that some articles and pages on this Site contain affiliate links.
An affiliate link is a specially tracked URL that, if you click it and subsequently make a purchase from the linked retailer or service provider, results in Scale Blog earning a commission. This commission is paid by the retailer and comes at no additional cost to you. You pay the same price whether you purchase through an affiliate link or navigate to the retailer directly.
Where Affiliate Links Appear
Affiliate links may appear in any article, buying guide, product comparison, or recommendation on Scale Blog. Where an article contains affiliate links, the following disclosure statement appears at the top of that article:
“This article contains affiliate links. If you purchase through these links, Scale Blog may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. See our full Affiliate Disclosure for details.”
Affiliate links are formatted identically to non-affiliate links. You can identify an affiliate link by hovering over it and observing the URL in your browser’s status bar — affiliate links typically include a tracking parameter such as a tag, referral ID, or partner code in the URL.
Affiliate Programs We Participate In
Scale Blog currently participates in affiliate programs, including, but not limited to:
- Amazon Associates — We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases.
- Scale retailer affiliate programs — We may participate in affiliate programs operated by specialist scale dealers and industrial equipment retailers. Where we do, those links are subject to the same disclosure standards described on this page.
This list may be updated as we add or remove affiliate relationships. The current date of this page reflects the most recent review.
How Affiliate Relationships Affect Our Content
We want to be direct about this.
Affiliate relationships do not determine what we recommend. Our editorial process starts with the technical requirements of the application being discussed — the correct capacity, material, IP rating, certification, or accuracy class for a given environment. We arrive at those recommendations before we consider whether an affiliate relationship exists with any retailer or product.
We do not accept payment to recommend specific products. Retailers and manufacturers cannot pay Scale Blog to be featured favorably in our articles. The presence of an affiliate link to a product does not mean we received compensation to write about that product — it means we have set up a standard affiliate tracking link to a product we would direct readers to regardless.
We do not link to products we would not recommend. If we include an affiliate link, it is to a product or retailer we believe provides genuine value to our readers for the application described. We do not pad articles with affiliate links to products that are not relevant or appropriate for the reader’s stated need.
Our blacklist policy applies regardless of affiliate relationships. We maintain an internal list of companies whose products or business practices we will not link to or recommend, regardless of whether they offer affiliate programs or compensation. An affiliate opportunity does not override editorial judgment.
